Intrepid Camera 8x10 Camera Overview

A compact and lightweight large format camera for photographers of all skill levels, the Intrepid 8 x 10 View Camera offers a wide range of camera movements and support for working with an extensive array of lenses with a standard Copal shutter. In its base configuration, the camera's removable black bellows provide 20.1" of extension to support working with focal length lenses from 180 to 480mm. Full front movements are available as well as rear base tilt, and the rear standard rotates for horizontal and vertical shooting. Strong magnets and two lockable clips secure the rear standard, while the aluminum base and rear-controlled linear focus mechanism provide additional stability and sharp focus.

The Intrepid 8x10 View Camera can be folded flat when not in use for easy storage and transport. A bright ground glass featuring a half-inch grid is included, and an optional Fresnel is available for ultrawide-angle lenses.

  • Compact and lightweight at 6.2 pounds, the removable bellows fold down for easy storage and transport.
  • Reversible back to quickly switch between horizontal and vertical orientations.
  • Includes bright, high-quality ground glass featuring 1/2" grid lines as a compositional aid. An optional Fresnel lens is available to promote bright, even illumination from edge to edge.
  • The rear standard is held securely in place with strong magnets and reinforced by two lockable clips on each side.
  • Shift, rise, tilt, and swing movements benefit from Teflon-coated parts for smooth operation in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Includes removable bellows for working with a wide array of focal lengths, ranging from wide-angle to long lenses.
  • Bellows are constructed from waterproof, super-durable vinyl with a triple-layered lightproof lining.
  • Rack and pinion style fine-geared focus control is aided by large rubber-covered knobs for added precision.
  • Accepts standard copal shutter style 8 x 10 lenses from 180mm to 480mm. Additionally, the Intrepid lens board adapter, available separately, allows for the use of lenses mounted to Intrepid 4x5 lens boards.
  • The aluminum base with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod sockets and rear-controlled linear focus mechanism ensures stability and consistent, pin-sharp focus.
