This Linhof Technorama Super-Symmar XL 80mm f/4.5 Lens for the 612 PC II is an aspherical wide-field lens design, and comes with a special helical focusing mount and shutter mechanism specifically tailored to the Linhof 612 PC II.
This lens is manufactured by Schneider Optics, and individually inspected by Linhof.
A 6 element/4 group aspherical design with a normal coverage angle of 105°, the Technorama Super-Symmar XL 80mm f/4.5 produces a field of view similar to a ~26mm lens on a 35mm camera, in a sweeping 56 x 120mm image format. An optional finder (Linhof #001311) is available to quickly display a rough approximation of the field of view without having to observe, or even install, a ground glass on the camera.
While Linhof does not specify it as being necessary because 56 x 120mm is well within the central field of view of this lens, the Schneider Center Filter #3B can be used to compensate for the natural illumination variance inherent in such a wide angle lens for the especially exacting photographer.
